What the AIIB Can Do for the Multilateral System

Improving global governance
Aug 09, 2017 | Center for Global Development, Scott Morris

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has enjoyed considerable success since its creation, and faces the challenge of assuring operational effectiveness and sound strategy. This essay by Scott Morris for the Center for Global Development examines the AIIB’s importance for other MDBs like the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, and identifies ways in which the AIIB could help shape a new system-wide approach, whether by division of labor between MDBs, or by introducing institutional innovations.
