In the 25-plus-year history of cooperation between India and the Russian Federation, energy has evolved into the main driver of bilateral economic ties, overtaking even the military and technical cooperation between the two states. However, in order to boost comprehensive ties and bring them to a level appropriate to the changing global economic environment, the countries need innovative approaches in the energy sector. In this joint publication by the Russian International Affairs Council and Gateway House, Vasily Shikin and Amit Bhandari present the views of Russian and Indian experts on new collaboration formats across energy sectors, and offer recommendations for enhanced cooperation.
