The 10 Scientific ‘Must Knows’ on Climate Change

Addressing vulnerability and promoting security
Dec 04, 2017 | Earth League and Future Earth,

Earth has entered a new geological epoch - the Anthropocene - with profound implications for humanity and the stability of the Earth system.  Scientists warn that whereas a “collision course” with Earth’s climatic tipping points is avoidable, the political will to act is still missing. For society to develop and prosper in a near-to 2 °C world requires a transformation to global sustainable development. Prepared by the Earth League and Future Earth, this report summarises key scientific insights relating to the Paris Agreement and economic and policy options that would help the international community to reach the Agreement’s goals. The report argues the need to position the climate challenge in the larger context of global sustainability.
