World Trends in Freedom of and Expression and Media Development - Global Report 2017/2018

Sharing core norms and values
Feb 20, 2018 | UNESCO

Freedom of expression and media development are inextricably linked to the human rights agenda. The trends outlined in this report by UNESCO are part of a larger conceptual picture by highlighting the influence of free expression and related concepts, on other rights. It provides an map within which regional and national trends can be compared, and corrective measures taken, to shape communication for a better future. Press freedom is examined in four key dimensions: Media freedom, media pluralism, media independence and the safety of journalists
