World Development Report 2018: Learning to Realize Education's Promise
This report by the
World Bank notes that education is always critical to human welfare, but is even more so in a time of rapid economic and social change. It explores four themes: Education’s promise; the need to focus on learning; how to make schools work for learners; and how to make systems work for learning. The report suggests that there is nothing inevitable about weak learning in low- and middle-income countries, and suggests how to address the three dimensions of the learning crisis: Poor learning outcomes, their immediate (local) causes, and deeper systemic causes.
