The first connections between computers nearly fifty years ago have been transformed into fast and imperceptible connectivity that now covers the planet. Drivers of change encompass an integrated system of technological, economic, regulatory, security and network-related opportunities and challenges. The implications of one area are inextricably tied to others - for example, the role of governments will grow as a result of the rise of cyber threats. In this report, the Internet Society presents an array of views on the forces shaping the future of Internet and their impact on media and society; digital divides; and personal rights and freedoms.
