Global Manufacturing Scorecard: How the US compares to 18 other Nations

Delivering sustainable economic growth
Jul 20, 2018 | Brookings Institution

In this report, the Brookings Institution presents a global scorecard on five dimensions of the manufacturing environment: Policies and regulations; tax policy; energy, transportation, and health costs; workforce quality; and infrastructure and innovation. China leads the world in manufacturing output, at over $2.01 trillion, followed by the United States, Japan, Germany, and South Korea. The report also examines policies that inhibit manufacturing development in low-performing countries - among them Brazil, Indonesia, and Mexico.
