Human Freedom Index - 2018

Addressing vulnerability and promoting security
Feb 17, 2019 | Cato Institute, Fraser Institute, Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, Ian Vásquez, Tanja Porcnik

Human freedom is a social concept that recognises the dignity of individuals, but it can also be defined as negative liberty, or the absence of coercive constraint. This Index - published jointly by the Cato Institute, the Fraser Institute, and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom - presents the state of human freedom, based on personal, civil, and economic freedom. Ian Vásquez and Tanja Porcnik use 79 indicators of personal and economic freedom to explore the dimensions of freedom and the relationships between freedom and other social and economic phenomena.
