Action Plan on Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience - Managing Risks for a More Resilient Future

Addressing vulnerability and promoting security
Apr 15, 2019 | World Bank, Arame Tall, Carter Brandon

The accelerating impacts of climate change, and the need to avoid even greater impacts in the future, make scaling up action on adaptation and resilience, urgent. This Action Plan - written by a World Bank task team led by Arame Tall and Carter Brandon - lays out a strategy to boost adaptation and resilience, in three areas: (a) Two funds for low-income and middle-income countries, increasing direct adaptation financing to $50 billion over FY21-25; (b) support for countries to take a adaptation into the mainstream so that climate risks are managed in policy planning, investment design, and implementation; and development of a new rating system to incentivize investments in adaptation and resilience, and improve tracking.
