Building the SDG Economy: Needs, Spending, and Financing for Universal Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals

Delivering sustainable economic growth
Dec 03, 2019 | Global Economy and Development, Brookings, Homi Kharas, John McArthur

SDG financing seeks to ensure that the right combination of resources is available in the right places at the right time to solve real-world challenges – the deprivation of basic human needs, obesity-induced non-communicable disease, species loss from land and oceans, and dangerous greenhouse gas emissions. In this paper for Global Economy and Development at Brookings, Homi Kharas and John McArthur look at ways to shape a new global economy consistent with the SDGs. They focus on what governments must do through public spending to acheive the SDGs.
