Investing in ‘sustaining peace’ encompasses international and national actors’ willing to commit to the long-term implementation of peace agreements. In this article for E-International Relations, Christiana Carletti shows how actors can shape the domestic post-conflict environment. She uses peace agreements that entered into force from 2000 to 2018 to investigate the feasibility of hybrid self-determination, and its ability to strengthen post-conflict peace processes under UN leadership.
