Earth Day at 50: Five Ways to Honor the Legacy and Change the World

Delivering sustainable economic growth
Apr 28, 2020 | World Resources Institute, Andrew Steer

The year 2020, the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, was to be a critical one to advance progress on climate, biodiversity and the ocean, anchored by large, international summits. In this article for the World Resources Institute (WRI), Andrew Steer laments that instead of that, the world is experiencing a human tragedy with loss of life, jobs and income.  He sets out five imperatives that the WRI is working toward under the headlines: Put People First; Bury the Economics of Yesterday; Rethink the Future; Embrace International Cooperation; and A New Earth Day Commitment.
