Change Finance, not the Climate

Delivering sustainable economic growth
Jul 16, 2020 | Transnational Institute, Oscar Reyes

In this book by the Transnational Institute, Oscar Reyes presents proposals for a fair financial system in response to the climate crisis, assessing their achievability, potential impacts, and associated drawbacks. Central to his message is that fossil fuel lending can be redirected towards green energy, and that public finance and ownership can bankroll and provide the infrastructure needed for a Green New Deal. Public finance can lead by bankrolling a Green New Deal, placing democratic control and equitable access to common goods and services, at the heart of investment. He offers climate activists a variety of financial tools to power a just transition.
