AI technologies are at the heart of how search engines and social media platforms reproduce the information created by traditional media companies. Natalie Schnelle argues in this interview in the Global Policy journal that this requires greater interdisciplinary cooperation, new sets of skills and more complex reviewing processes, as machine learning models must be made comprehensible for editors and readers. Equally important is an understanding of the human condition to assure purpose and direction. Therefore, for value creation, the essential elements are the ability to combine new skill sets and collaborate with colleagues of different backgrounds.
