Shaping Africa's Post-COVID Recovery
Except for some hotspots in Northern and Southern Africa, the African continent has largely been spared from the worst health impacts of COVID-19. But, the African economy has been significantly damaged. In this eBook by the
Centre for Economic Policy Research, Ugo Panizza, Rabah Arezki, Simean Djankov and other economists evaluate the impacts of the epidemic on African economies and assess the policy implications. Africa’s high incidence of poverty and debt, compared to other regions, makes addressing these issues more challenging. Several options are proposed, including greater access to international finance and external debt restructuring, to enable government policies to help households and firms.
