In this tenth State of Power report by the Transnational Institute, Achille Mbembe, Olufemi Taiwo, Jordi Calvo Rufanges, Carlos Díaz, Ekaterina Zepnova, Felip Daza et al present their views on eleven subjects related to global security, among them coercive power, the state and racism in a time of crisis; private military and security companies and coercive state power; and the political economy of counterterrorism. They review coercion by militaries and through policing and homeland security, and outline emancipatory visions and ideas to end violence perpetrated by the state.
