Global Strategic Trends - Out to 2045
The industrialisation of the developing world will present resource and environmental challenges, while generating wealth and prosperity for some of the most impoverished nations. In the West in particular, a rise of individualism and, amongst many, a growing sense of disconnection from long-established governing structures will challenge traditional systems. This Publication by the
U.K. Ministry of Defence assesses possible futures to provide a strategic context for policy- and decision-makers across Government. Thirteen broad thematic areas are identified, with eight geographic regions and a section on space. Some trends - most notably those relating to economics, religion, technology and globalisation - run through all of the subject areas, and are discussed as they arise rather than in their own sections, to bring them to life more clearly.
