Placing the Asian economies on a sustainable development path requires an shift in investment away from greenhouse gas, fossil fuel and natural resource-intensive industries towards more resource efficient technologies and business models. In this joint publication by the German Development Institute and the Asian Development Bank Institute, Ulrich Volz outlines the central role which the financial sector will have to play in this 'green transformation'. He reviews green lending and investment, and green financial governance initiatives across Asia.
