Providing Information to Students and Parents to improve Learning Outcomes

Sharing core norms and values

Parents often lack the information they need on school quality to make an informed decision about what school to choose or how to enable improved quality. Providing parents with clear, actionable guidance on how to be more involved in their child’s academic performance improves learning outcomes for their children. Results from 23 randomized evaluations from low-, middle-, and high-income countries by the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab  show that overcoming a gap in knowledge about education tends to increase parental engagement, student effort, or both, and lead to improved learning outcomes.
