Delivering sustainable economic growth
Jan 26, 2021 | Brookings Africa Growth Initiative, Toyin Adeniji, Akinwumi Adesina, Edem Adzogenu et al

An Africa with more open economic boundaries will not only lower the region’s reliance on the global economy and enhance economic prospects for her people, but also facilitate access to goods and services to make its citizens healthier and more prosperous. In this annual report by the Brookings Africa Growth Initiative, Toyin Adeniji, Akinwumi Adesina, Edem Adzogenu et al suggest how Africa’s policymakers can use the COVID-19 pandemic as an opportunity for a “great reset” of their economies; share strategies to strengthen health systems to prepare for a future pandemic; and debate ideas for better human development outcomes and achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals; explore challenges facing African entrepreneurs and businesses as they seek to restart and grow; and explore ways to ensure that a united Africa makes for a stronger Africa.
