The Work Ahead: Digital First (to Last)

Delivering sustainable economic growth
Apr 11, 2021 | Cognizant Center for the Future of Work, Ben Pring, Euan Davis

Success in the 2020s will depend on investing in digital technologies and transformation programs and in building the capabilities needed to take advantage of new opportunities and mitigate the threats from a world in flux. In this report by the Cognizant Center for the Future of Work, Ben Pring and Euan Davis discuss the role that digitization  has played in separating winners from stragglers in the last five years, and offer observations and recommendations on the forms of the next waves of digitization over the next three to five years. Their analysis shows a shift from investment in IT infrastructure and general capability, to more sophisticated, productivity-enhancing technology and applications, including robotics, process automation and AI, and highlights how businesses are optimizing collaborative human-machine work.
