Taking the Gender Agenda in EU Programming

Improving global governance
Apr 29, 2021 | European Centre for Development Policy Management, Chloe Teevan, Lidet Tadesse Shiferaw, Mariella Di Ciommo

This paper by the European Centre for Development Policy Management analyses how the EU is using a three-pronged approach in its development cooperation to address  gender through political dialogue, stand-alone projects, and gender mainstreaming. Drawing on case studies from Ethiopia, Mozambique and Mali, Chloe Teevan, Lidet Tadesse Shiferaw and Mariella Di Ciommo discuss how gender can be integrated into the strategic programming of member states, and at how EU delegations interact with local actors. They offer suggestions for EU institutions, member states and country delegations on implementing the EU’s gender goals.
